Sustainability
In May 2025, Sentury Tire USA became the first tire manufacturer to be selected for Discount Tire’s new Total Recycling Initiative through Liberty Tire Recycling, a program that aims to recycle every single Sentury tire.
In the past nine months, Sentury’s involvement in the program means their end-of-life tires have been turned into usable materials such as crumb rubber and mulch, which are used for athletic tracks, playground surfaces, and artificial turf. This initiative means that no Sentury-branded tires taken out of service at Discount Tire will end up in a landfill.
Discount Tire has also repurposed used Sentury tires through Liberty Tire Recycling for a vast array of everyday materials, including: splash guards and car mats for vehicles and construction equipment, rubberized asphalt shingles, sound barrier walls, park benches and tables built from durable recycled rubber and plastic, as well as pavers and rubber flooring for garages and patios, playgrounds, gyms, and other recreational flooring.
Tires take up significant space in landfills and are not biodegradable, which means they can take up to 80 years to break down and therefore need a significant amount of long-term storage space in the meantime. Sentury’s commitment to sustainability includes being mindful of the way our products are repurposed to mitigate any needless strain on resources, and actively participating in a circular economy.
This commitment is amplified by a Sentury Tire USA core values which states: “We respect that our products begin with nature and are committed to using the best, sustainable practices in our business model.” Sentury is excited to “pay it forward” to the environment, with a continued commitment to reducing our environmental footprint year over year.
